| Author Info | Dr.Kedarnath N S graduated from Govt Dental College Banglaore (2002) and completed post graduate Degree MDS in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from JSS Dental College Mysore (2007). His interest in the medico-legal field started with appearance to the various courts as a fact witness in medicolegal cases. Based on his experience to the courts, he wrote an article titled “Maxillofacial Surgeon as Fact Witness: Indian Scenario”, that got published in the national association journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, it helps the novice OMFS Surgeons how to present oneself as a fact witness in the Indian courts. An unfortunate incident of death of a boy in a Dental Clinic in Bangalore and the visuals of the reaction of the parents and relatives of the ill-fated boy towards the treated Dentist, both sparked him to write an article on” Death in Dental Clinic: Indian Scenario”, a document that helps every Dentist in India to understand the legalities following the death of a patient in a clinic. He also wrote an article on “professional indemnity insurance for Dental practitioners in India” which helps the Dental practitioners to understand the clauses involved in choosing the insurance. Increasing number of medico-legal cases further made him to understand more of the medical law and in the process, he completed Post Graduate Diploma in Medical Law and Ethics from the prestigious National Law School of India University Bangalore in February 2017. He served as Professor in the Dept of OMFS, Rajarajeswari Dental College Bangalore and currently he is the Professor and Head Department of Dentistry, Kodagu Institute of Medical Sciences Madikeri, he is working towards enhancing the Medico-Legal knowledge among the Dentists in India and on a project to secure all the Dentists from the Medio-Legal issues. |
