Xiaomi Band 3 is a successor of popular Xiaomi Band 2. Design-wise, the two bands are almost identical. They are both made from the same body-friendly thermoplastic elastomer and use Xiaomi's signature wristband style, but the new model features a tighter and more solid strap, something active lifestylers will truly appreciate. The one small difference is that the mi band 3 has a capacitive button in the form of a dimple on the screen. The Mi Band come in two variant in NFC variant & Non-NFC variant & only the Non-NFC variant is expected to launch in India.

The Mi band 3 does come with a few spec upgrades : you get Bluetooth 4.2 for an even smoother experience and the watch is compatible with both Android 4.4 and above phones as well as iOS 9.0 and above. The mi band 3 promises an improved NFC function for quick and easy payments right from the watch. We have got an non NFC variant from GearBest for our review, earlier the smart band only had the Chinese language now with the new firmware global users can get English language on firmware update which happens automatically when you first install the app & pair it with the smartband!

What’s in the Box?

The Setup of the band is fairly straight forward & the band connects with the smart phone in seconds, for pair the band Mi Fit app is required, the same can be downloaded from Google Playstore or Apple App Store.

What’s new?

This new display panel is bigger, brighter & shows incoming call and text message alerts as well as the current time, steps taken, and heart rate count. The latest Mi Band model also includes a heart-rate (PPG) sensor, and bears a triaxial acceleration sensor. It also has a sleep monitoring feature.

SCREEN

The watch comes with larger 0.78 inches PMOLED screen, having a pixel density of 193ppi, the mi band 3 is a comes with the highest PPI custom display on the market. Because of the upgraded chip, the new model's screen is also brighter than that of mi band 2. The screen even on the OFF condition looks shiny & gives a luxury feel to the viewer. The only problem with the display is that when viewed under the bright sunlight, It has visibility issues. We tried wearing the band while riding a bike, we could hardly see any display on the watch.

BATTERY

Mi band 3 takes things a bit further sporting a 110mAh battery which explains the watch's heavier weight and provides an even longer usage and standby time. Even though the company claim to battery will sustain to around 20 days but on actual usage it lasted for around 13 days, which is not bad either.

WATERPROOF

The Mi band 3 has UV100 coating anti-fingerprint coating. More than that, featuring 5ATM waterproof protection, the smartwatch can follow you on a diving expedition to up to 50 meters down.

PRICE & AVAILABLITY

Even though as on date the Xiaomi smart band 3 is not launched in India but you can still get an hand on to Xiaomi’s latest smart band via Gearbest, the product will be shipped from China & will be delivered in around 10-15days! The current discounted price for the Xiaomi Smart Band 3 is Rs.2399 or $34.59. In India the Mi Smart Band is expected to be sold via Amazon.in & Mi official website & will only available in Non-NFC variant by end of July 2018.
